Uttarakhand / Haridwar : Case registered against BJP MLA Suresh Rathore in rape case

BJP MLA Suresh Rathore from Jwalapur seat of Haridwar has been accused of rape by a woman leader of the party. On the complaint of the woman leader, the police of Bahadarabad police station has registered a case and started investigation. According to the police officer, the police has registered a case against BJP MLA Suresh Rathore on Friday on the complaint of the woman leader. The woman has said in the complaint that the MLA raped her a few months back. The threat received from the MLA has been cited as the reason behind not registering the case at that time. The MLA had threatened to kill the woman by setting her on fire. Mahendra Pundir, sub-inspector of Bahadrabad police station said that a case has been registered against MLA Suresh Rathore under section 376 of IPC. The matter is being investigated. Despite repeated attempts, the MLA could not be contacted.

The MLA had also filed a case against the woman

The MLA had also filed a case in May against the woman who had accused the MLA of rape. On May 26, MLA Suresh Rathore had lodged a complaint against the woman, her husband and three others. He had alleged that he was being blackmailed along with some media persons. A demand of Rs 30 lakh is being made saying that the obscene video is going viral. The woman has threatened to accuse him of rape if the money is not paid. Then the police laid a trap and arrested all the five people including the woman and her husband after calling them to give money. Later, the woman leader approached the court alleging that Rathore raped her. He misled the police and is roaming freely because of his clout as MLA.

Very close to the woman MLA who made the allegation

A BJP woman leader from the district, on the condition of anonymity, said that the woman who made the allegations was very close to the MLA. Till a few months back, Rathore always accompanied Rathore in party related events. She was mainly involved in his political programs, rallies, meetings. At the same time, BJP District President Jaipal Singh Chauhan said that he does not have much information about the matter. Now it is part of the legal process so he can’t say anything right now.

On the other hand, Congress has raised its voice against the MLA and demanded his resignation. Meanwhile, Congress has sought the resignation of BJP MLA Suresh Rathore. State Congress Committee vice-president Dhirendra Pratap said that when MLAs indulge in such heinous crime, the law and order situation in the state as well as the morality of BJP leaders gets an idea.
