Bihar Congress leaders meet Rahul amidst discussion of change

Congress leaders and MLAs of Bihar have been called today to meet Rahul Gandhi in Delhi amid discussion of changes in party organization in Bihar. The Congress is contemplating a change of leadership in the state after the party’s poor performance in last year’s assembly polls. The Congress in the state is led by Madan Mohan Jha and despite an alliance with the RJD and contesting 70 seats, the party could not cross the 20 mark in the state.
Former Lok Sabha Speaker and senior Congress leader Meira Kumar said, the meeting is to discuss how to strengthen the party in the state.
Several Congress leaders are in the fray for the top post in Bihar, but the party is considering appointing someone from the Scheduled Castes.
Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and his associates are in touch with some Congress MLAs and top Congress leaders have come to know about the development.
However, the top leadership of the party has denied any such developments.
Bihar Congress President Madan Mohan Jha told RNS, “Our MLAs and MPs are with us and they have faith in the Congress party and the leadership of Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi.
Jha said, “Our MLAs, MLCs, MPs and former CLP leaders and other top state leaders had expressed their desire to meet Rahul Gandhi and he gave us time on July 7.
Congress MLA from Chenari in Rohtas, Murari Gautam, told IANS, “Our executive meeting is to be held on July 7 where we will discuss the current political situation in Bihar and future policies with our leader Rahul Gandhi.
