There is a lot of emphasis on UP in cabinet expansion, Anupriya Patel becomes minister of state in Modi government

The reshuffle of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s cabinet has focused on the upcoming assembly elections and caste equation. In view of the UP elections to be held in the year 2022, BJP’s ally Apna Dal (S) president Anupriya Patel was made a part of Modi Government 2.0. He took oath as Minister of State today. Anupriya Patel is a two-time MP from the Mirzapur Lok Sabha seat of Uttar Pradesh. Anupriya Patel is considered a good influence among the backwards of UP, especially the Patels.

Earlier, in his second cabinet reshuffle in 2016, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had included BJP’s ally ‘Apna Dal’ MP Anupriya Patel in the cabinet in Uttar Pradesh. Anupriya, just 40 years old, belongs to the Backward Classes and is an MP from Mirzapur in eastern UP. Keeping in mind the 2022 UP assembly elections, the discussion about getting him a place in the cabinet is in full swing. She had also reached the Prime Minister’s residence on Wednesday i.e. today.

More than party activities, Anupriya was once in the news for her conflict with her mother Krishna Patel. The mother-daughter conflict, which began to hold on to the party, escalated so much that mother Krishna ordered the expulsion of seven people, including Anupriya, from Apna Dal for six years on charges of anti-party activities.

Apna Dal, founded by Anupriya’s father Sonelal Patel, has a good penetration among the backwards, especially the Patels of eastern UP. Anupriya is considered the progressive face of Apna Dal.

Born on 28 April 1981 in Kanpur, Anupriya has completed her Master’s degree in Psychology as well as an MBA. Anupriya has also won the election from Rohini assembly seat of Varanasi.
