West Bengal : High Court imposed a fine of Rs 5 lakh on Mamta Banerjee
The case for the removal of the judge from the case
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has suffered a major setback from the Calcutta High Court. The court has imposed a fine of Rs 5 lakh on the judge for raising questions. Mamta Banerjee had demanded change of judge for hearing the petition filed in the court after the defeat in Nandigram. Mamata Banerjee had accused Judge Kaushik Chand of having relations with the BJP. The Trinamool Congress chief’s application was rejected by Justice Kaushik Chand himself. However, people related to this whole matter say that Justice Kaushik Chand has decided not to hear the matter further on the basis of his personal discretion. Apart from this, the matter has been separated from its bench.
In fact, CM Mamta Banerjee has challenged her defeat in the Nandigram assembly seat against Shubhendu Adhikari in the Kolkata High Court. The hearing of this case was being done by the bench of Kaushik Chand. On this, Mamta Banerjee had demanded that he be separated from the case. He said that Kaushik Chand had relations with BJP. On this demand, the court has imposed a fine of Rs 5 lakh. At the same time, at his discretion, he himself has decided to walk away from the case.
