Pollard appeals to young batsmen to be patient

West Indies captain Kieron Pollard has appealed to the young batsmen, especially Shimron Hetmyer and Nicholas Pooran, to be patient. West Indies recently suffered a 3-2 defeat at the hands of South Africa in which the batting order proved to be a flop. Apart from Evin Lewis, who scored 178 runs in five innings, no batsman could perform well in this series.

Pollard said before the series against Australia, when Hetmyer doesn’t play, people ask him to include him. Now he is playing and trying to fill his role. He is very talented.
“We all know that Pooran is also very talented and any player has to go through such phases in his career. This is a good opportunity for us where we can support these young players and expect them to perform well.

“As a team, we want to work with these two young players because we know what they can do in the future,” Pollard said.

The first T20 match between Windies and Australia will be played on Friday.
