Election strategist Prashant Kishor meets Congress leader Rahul Gandhi

Famous election strategist Prashant Kishor met Congress leader Rahul Gandhi in New Delhi on Tuesday. After this meeting, the round of speculation has started. It is understood that this meeting has taken place on the issue of discord in Punjab Congress. Prashant Kishor, who had a series of political meetings in the last few weeks, reached Rahul’s house for the meeting.

The meeting is understood to have taken place in the backdrop of efforts to maintain peace between two prominent Punjab Congress leaders-CM Amarinder Singh and his staunch critic Navjot Singh Sidhu while still in the Congress, ahead of next year’s assembly elections in Punjab. Rahul Gandhi and Prashant Kishor had last ‘worked’ together in the year 2017 during the UP assembly elections, although the Congress party had to face a crushing defeat in these elections. Navjot Singh, who came in, has met former Congress President Rahul Gandhi and Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra. After this, Punjab CM Amarinder Singh also met Rahul Gandhi.

A few weeks ago, there was heated rhetoric between Chief Minister Amarinder Singh and Navjot Singh Sidhu. Congress sources say that the party leadership is in favor of contesting the Punjab assembly elections with Amarinder Singh’s face, though at the same time it wants to take Sidhu along. If sources are to be believed, Sidhu is still pushing for a change of leadership in the government, but efforts are being made by the party to persuade him by offering him a ‘respectable place’ in the organisation.
