Piyush Goyal will be the Leader of the House in Rajya Sabha

Union Minister Piyush Goyal will be the Leader of the House in the Rajya Sabha. Goel will succeed Thawar Chand Gehlot, who was appointed as the Governor of Karnataka last week. The BJP will soon also work for the selection of Deputy Leader in Rajya Sabha in place of Goyal. It is worth mentioning that while Gehlot’s leader was in the House, Goyal was the Deputy Leader in the Rajya Sabha.

BJP sources said that after Gehlot was made the governor, a round of discussions has started to fill the vacant posts in the organization and Parliament. In the first episode of the discussion, it has been decided to make Goel the leader of the House. After this, the party will have to find the option of a member in the Parliamentary Board, the party’s most powerful unit, in place of Gehlot along with the deputy leader in the Rajya Sabha. A final decision in this regard will be taken this week.

Significantly, Gehlot was a strong Dalit face in the government. After making him the governor, Dr Virendra Kumar of the Dalit fraternity was given the responsibility of the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment in his place. Dr. Kumar is also from Madhya Pradesh like Gehlot.
