Afghan citizens in favor of ending diplomatic relations with Pakistan

A large number of Afghan nationals staged a sit-in in front of the Pakistani embassy here to protest the kidnapping of the daughter of the Afghan ambassador to Pakistan, and called for severing diplomatic ties with Pakistan. The protesters demanded the closure of Pakistan’s embassy in Afghanistan and the removal of their ambassador.

“The Afghan people are in favor of establishing an Israeli embassy in Afghanistan, but Pakistan’s embassy in Kabul should be closed as soon as possible,” said Zalmay Afghaniar Popal, deputy head of the ancient Herat Social and Cultural Council in Kabul.

“We call on the Afghan security forces to monitor the activities of all Pakistani political representations,” Mahmood Marhoon, who called the protest demonstration, said. The Afghan Embassy in Pakistan is not safe. The ambassador’s family should be called from Pakistan and the Pakistani embassy in Kabul should be closed. The protesters appealed to regional countries, especially India and Turkey, to stand with Afghanistan in this hour of crisis and form a united front against Pakistan. The protesters also insisted on boycotting the goods coming from Pakistan.
