Himachal Pradesh / Mandi : Target to plant one lakh 60 thousand saplings in the district by July 31 : Arindam Choudhary
By July 31, one lakh 60 thousand saplings will be planted in the district. This information was given by Deputy Commissioner Arindam Choudhary while presiding over the district level plantation program organized by District Red Cross Society, Mandi in collaboration with Forest Department at Devidhar in Gram Panchayat Mandal of Balh sub-division today. He inaugurated the program by planting a sapling of Dadu. On this occasion about 800 saplings of Amla, Bheda, Ban, Harde, Dadu and Jamun were planted with the help of local people.
The Deputy Commissioner informed that from today onwards, medicinal and fruit-bearing plants will be planted on vacant land in every sub-division with the help of Red Cross Society and Forest Department. He said that saplings would also be planted at the ward level of every urban body and panchayat.
He urged the people to plant maximum number of saplings on the vacant land around them during the rainy season. He said that by planting trees, where our environment will be green, we will also get pure oxygen.
On this occasion, District Red Cross Society Mandi Hospital Welfare Section President Manupwar Choudhary, SDM Balh Smritika Negi, Forest Divisional Officer S.S. Kashyap, Block Development Officer Balh Yog Maya, Red Cross Society Secretary O.P. Bhatia, Vinod Guleria, head of Mandal village panchayat, Abha Jamwal, head of Nagchala village panchayat were also present.
Forest Divisional Officer S.S. Kashyap threw light on the activities being carried out by the Forest Department.
In this episode, plantation programs were organized in each sub-division by the sub-divisional red cross units under the chairmanship of the local SDM.
SDM Sadar Ritika Jindal presided over the program organized in Gandharva of Sadar sub-division. On this occasion around 800 saplings of pomegranate, ban, jamun, reetha etc. were planted with the help of local people.
Plantation was done under the chairmanship of SDM Padhar Sanjit Thakur in Sakrog of Siyun, Gram Panchayat of Padhar sub-division.
