FIBA Asia Cup 2021 rescheduled to July 2022

The FIBA Asia Cup 2021 will be played in Jakarta, Indonesia according to a pre-scheduled plan, but has been rescheduled to July 2022. The International Basketball Federation (FIBA) has announced this.
“We and our Asia regional office have carefully evaluated the planning and organization of our upcoming Asia events in consultation with the FIBA Asia Board as well as key stakeholders and partners,” FIBA said in a statement. The evaluation takes into account several aspects such as the current travel restrictions, well-being of the participants, fan access and experience, and the objective of ensuring the highest quality of events.
FIBA is understood to have concluded the process after confirming that the FIBA Asia Cup 2021 will be played as planned in Jakarta, Indonesia, but has been rescheduled to July 2022 following the window of the FIBA Basketball World Cup Asia Cupfire. 13 teams have qualified for the Asian continental tournament, while the final three places will be determined through two qualifying tournaments to be played at the end of August 2021.
Apart from this, the FIBA Women’s Asia Cup 2021 Division A will be played in Amman, Jordan from 27 September to 3 October 2021. Jordan will also host the FIBA Women’s Asia Cup 2021 Division B matches from November 7 to 13.
