INS Airavat arrives in Jakarta with COVID relief supplies for Indonesia

Indian Naval Ship Airavat arrived at Jakarta port in Indonesia on 24 July 2021 carrying essential COVID-19 relief material. The ship has brought five cryogenic containers containing 100 metric tons of liquid oxygen and 300 concentrators to aid the fight against the ongoing pandemic in Indonesia.

INS Airavat is a Landing Ship Tank (Large) type vessel primarily for amphibious missions and is capable of carrying multiple tanks, amphibious vehicles and other military cargo. The ship has also been deployed for Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) relief operations and has been a part of various relief efforts in the Indian Ocean region.

India and Indonesia have close cultural and commercial ties. The two countries are working together in the maritime domain towards a safer Indo-Pacific. The navies of both countries regularly conduct joint naval exercises in the form of bilateral exercises and coordinated patrols.
