Twitter shuts down US offices following new CDC rules

Twitter has announced the closure of its offices in New York and San Francisco in response to new guidelines issued by the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). The microblogging platform has reopened offices on July 12, two weeks ago.
Twitter has decided to close our open offices in New York and San Francisco, as well as future office reopenings, he told TechCrunch.
The US CDC now recommends people resume wearing masks amid the growing Delta variant.
New guidance from CDC regulations recommends that people living in communities with high transmission wear masks in indoor public places, even if they have been vaccinated. It also recommended that vaccinated people with vulnerable household members, including young children, and those who are immunized wear masks indoors in public places.
Other tech companies have also taken cognizance of these new CDC guidelines.
Google and Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai said the company’s employees would need to be vaccinated before returning to the office.
Apple will require customers and employees in its more than 270 US retail stores to wear masks, even if they have been vaccinated.
Facebook and Amazon have also ratified similar policies regarding vaccinations and wearing masks.
“As soon as our offices reopen, we will need to vaccinate anyone who comes to work on any of our US campuses,” Lori Golar, Facebook’s vice president of people, told The Verge.
Netflix will also require the cast and some crew of its productions in the US to be vaccinated against COVID-19.
