Rajasthan : Maken hints at removing some ministers from Gehlot cabinet

Some members of the Ashok Gehlot ministry of Rajasthan may be removed before the much-awaited cabinet expansion in the state. Congress in-charge Ajay Maken has indicated this before leaving for Delhi. Maken indicated this after his face-to-face talks with all 115 Congress MLAs and senior party leaders on Wednesday and Thursday to prepare report cards of various ministers before leaving for Delhi.

He said some ministers have expressed their willingness to resign and work for the party. “Some people want to leave cabinet posts and work for the organisation. We are proud of such people.
It is clear from the statement that some ministers will be sacked to induct new faces in the Gehlot government.

Maken, who came to Rajasthan to break the deadlock between the two camps led by Chief Minister Gehlot and former Deputy Chief Minister Sachin Pilot, said Congress will form the government once again in 2023.

Responding to a question about the possible role of the pilot, he said, “Everyone has faith in the high command and all have said in one voice that they will accept any role offered by the high command.”

Meanwhile, Congress officials have said that the report prepared after talking to 115 MLAs and senior leaders on Wednesday and Thursday will now be submitted to the party high command.

This is likely to lead to cabinet expansion and political appointments, which the party workers have been waiting for.

Gehlot called an informal meeting over dinner with party MLAs on Thursday and asked everyone to forget and forgive for starting a new chapter of development in the state.
