Need to give a little more respect to bowlers in England: Pant
Indian cricket team’s wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant has said that while batting in England, it will be important to stand outside the crease and respect the bowlers as compared to other countries. Pant said, “As a cricketer when you have to play around the world, you have to take care of a few things. When you come to England you know the ball is going to swing a lot, so yes I am batting a little outside the crease.
Pant said it is an important thing to use the crease especially in such situations. You have to respect the bowler a little more than elsewhere. That’s what I look forward to doing during Test matches. The biggest challenge for the Indian batsmen will be to counter the lateral movement in England.
The 23-year-old, who has played 21 Test matches, played the first three Tests of his career in England. He scored 114 runs in the second innings of the fifth and final Test at The Oval. His wicketkeeping has earned him a lot of praise in recent times and he has become the number-1 wicketkeeper for India in Test matches. He added, “As a keeper, you just watch the ball and react to it. That’s what we do in practice. Just keep practicing hard work and you will get results in the match.
