In view of the recent increase in cases of corona infection in Japan, four more provinces declared a state of emergency on Monday.

The four prefectures in which the Japanese government has imposed a state of emergency until August 31 are Chiba, Kanagawa, Saitama and Osaka. Along with this, the period of emergency already implemented till 22 August in Tokyo and Okinawa has also been extended till 31 August.

On the other hand, a semi-emergency has been imposed in parts of Hokkaido, Ishikawa, Kyoto, Hyogo and Fukuoka provinces from Monday until the end of August. The National Governors Association has urged people to postpone their inter-provincial travel and get a corona test done in cases of urgent travel.
