Red notice sent to accused of plotting to attack Colombian President

Colombia’s Interpol office has issued a red notice to Javier Veloza, leader of the dissident group, General Jorge Luis Vargas, who broke away from the country’s Revolutionary Armed Forces (FARC) on charges of plotting an attack on President Ivan Duque.
National Police Director General Georges Luis Vargas gave this information in a statement. He said Velozza alias John Mekas, who commanded the GAOR-33 armed group, is accused of plotting an attack against the president. The group fired at the presidential helicopter during the attack in the city of Kukuta.
Mr Vargas pointed out that Veloza has also been involved in terrorism, smuggling, the manufacture or possession of weapons for personal use, and murder. Veloza is also wanted by the police in connection with the June 15 car bombings at a military base. 36 people were injured in the blast, including soldiers and civilians.
