Delhi : Threatened e-mail received in the name of Al Qaeda leader, security agency on high alert

New Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International (IGI) airport has received a bomb threat. In view of this, vigil has been increased at the airport. An official said that an e-mail threatening to explode was received at the IGI airport from an al-Qaeda leader. The Airport Operation Control Center gave this information on Saturday.
It was written in the e-mail that Karanbir Suri alias Mohammad Jalal and his wife Shaili Shara alias Haseena are coming to India from Singapore on Sunday. They are preparing to bomb the airport in 1-3 days. At the same time, the DIG said that in recent days also a similar threatening message was received with the same names and details, which was described as non-specific by the Bomb Threat Assessment Committee (BTAS).
Security agencies on alert
According to the SOP, the Security Operation Control Center has informed all the agencies concerned and the staff has also been alerted. At present, investigation is going on at all terminals, access control and vehicle checking points of IGI Airport. Along with this, patrolling has also been increased.
In April also there was a threat to blow up the plane.
Earlier on April 18, there was a threat to blow up the plane at the Delhi airport. At that time, a passenger on a flight coming from Bangalore to Delhi had got a slip, on which was written about the bomb in the plane. It was also said that the plane would explode as soon as it reached Delhi airport.
As soon as the plane reached Delhi, it was surrounded by Bomb Disposal Squad. However, nothing of the sort was found in the investigation. Airport Police Commissioner Rajeev Ranjan had told that a passenger found a piece of tissue paper in the washroom of the plane, in which it was written that there was a bomb on the Air Asia flight.
Delhi on alert before August 15
The capital has been on high alert since July 20. Alert is on based on inputs received from intelligence agencies. The agencies had informed about the plot of terror attack through drones before August 15. For the first time, training has also been given to Delhi Police and other security forces to prevent drone attacks. Also, a special drone control room has been set up at the Indian Air Force headquarters.
