Sensex rises 149 points in early trade

Infosys BSE’s 30-share Sensex rose 148.72 points, or 0.27 per cent, to end at 55,704.51 points in early trade. On the other hand, the Nifty of the National Stock Exchange was up 49.15 points or 0.30 percent at 16,545.60 in early trade.

Among the Sensex companies, Tata Steel’s stock rose the most by nearly three percent. Shares of Tech Mahindra, NTPC, L&T, PowerGrid, IndusInd Bank and UltraTech Cement were also gainers.

On the other hand, Maruti, Asian Paints, Kotak Bank and HDFC were the losers.
In the previous trading session, the Sensex closed at 55,555.79, up 226.47 points or 0.41 per cent. The Nifty was at 16,496.45, up 45.95 points or 0.28 per cent.
