Put restrictions locally in view of festivals
Centre’s order to the states
Keeping in mind the increasing corona cases, the central government is in no mood to tolerate any kind of negligence. Corona figures in Kerala and Maharashtra are continuously increasing the tension of the government. In such a situation, the Ministry of Home Affairs has said in an order that all the rules of prevention of corona virus will remain in force till 30 September. On the other hand, in view of the upcoming festivals in Maharashtra, the Center has asked the state government to consider imposing restrictions on local gatherings on these festivals to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
In a letter to the Chief Secretary of Maharashtra, Union Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan said that the number of daily cases has come down in the last one month, but there are some districts of Maharashtra which are showing an increase in the cases of infection.
Bhushan said that instructions were issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs under the Disaster Management Act 2005. He said that in this order it is suggested that in view of public programs and gathering of people during upcoming festivals in Maharashtra (which include Dahi Handi and Ganpati Festival) the state government should impose local restrictions.
