Taliban may form new cabinet in a couple of weeks

Simple silence on the inclusion of women

Apart from America, most countries have completed the operation to withdraw their troops from Afghanistan. The US has safely evacuated more than 100,000 people since the Taliban captured Kabul on August 15 and expects to have all of its men evacuated by Tuesday’s deadline. In the midst of the final process of withdrawing troops, the Taliban has said that it is preparing to form a cabinet for the upcoming government, although it is still not clear when the new cabinet will be formed.

There is speculation in many media reports that the Taliban may announce it soon. Sources quoted Taliban’s chief spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid as saying that the cabinet formation could be announced in the coming week. But later the Mujahid clarified that the Taliban can constitute the cabinet in one to two weeks. On Saturday, he told that the work on the new cabinet is going on and the announcement related to it can be made soon.
It is not yet clear what the new Taliban regime will be like. Experts are skeptical about the Taliban’s commitment not to repeat the 90s rule. During that period, the economy of Afghanistan collapsed badly and it was the worst period of repression on the people. Taliban co-founder Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar also admitted that the group did not expect to take control of the country so quickly. Political analysts say that they have not yet decided who and how will rule the country.

Most of the people are afraid of his cruelty and atrocities on women under the Taliban rule. The organization did not respond to the question regarding the inclusion of women in the cabinet.

Spokesperson Mujahid said that it is for the top leadership to decide and they cannot predict what their decision will be.

Apart from this, there is also the question of bringing the economy of Afghanistan back on track. The economic system of the country affected by the war of almost 4 decades is facing the loss of billions of dollars received in the form of foreign aid. The currency is depreciating and food prices are rising rapidly. Central banks, private banks and money exchange markets across the country have been closed for more than two weeks after the Taliban took over.

In a statement on Saturday, the Taliban ordered banks to reopen at a weekly limit of $200, or 20,000 Afghan withdrawals. Mujahid also said that officials have been appointed to run key institutions, including health, education ministries and the central bank.
