Uttarakhand : As soon as the elections come, the incidents of change in political parties intensify
As the elections to the state assembly are approaching, the incidents of switching sides in the political parties have started intensifying. There may be lakhs of criticisms of the defectors, even if the party belonging to them may call them opportunists, but the truth is that there is only benefit in defection. If there is a minister at the time of changing the party, then the MLA’s ticket and if the government is formed, the minister’s chair is confirmed. So why wouldn’t anyone want to take advantage of such an opportunity? This off was started in Uttarakhand in 2017.
If we talk about Uttarakhand only, the defection in the dispute arising out of the 2016 power struggle created history. History because the Congress government led by Harish Rawat was dissolved and President’s rule was imposed in the state for the first time. The Rawat government was reinstated after the court’s intervention, but before that, ministers and MLAs who had moved a motion of no confidence against the government had joined the BJP with a ticket from the assembly seat of their choice and the confidence of a ministerial post if the government was formed.
In the 2017 assembly elections, the BJP contested the defectors by giving them tickets from the seat of their choice and made most of them ministers. There are not one but many such examples which testify that because of the cleverness of defection, many faces have been ministers continuously since 2012.
In Uttarakhand, the people who came in groups or came alone among the defectors, got a ministerial post in the Trivendra government of BJP in 2017. Dhami is the third Chief Minister in the BJP but the chair of the defectors is also safe and also more weight than before.
In the MLAs, the defection has started once before the assembly elections from Dhanaulti, independent MLA Pritam Singh Panwar. Incidents of defection may increase in the coming days. Since it is being said in the news coming from BJP that tickets of many sitting MLAs can be cut. If this happens, then many people can be seen running towards the Congress for the ticket.
