Uttarakhand : Lieutenant General Gurmeet Singh took oath as the 8th Governor of the state

Lt Gen Gurmeet Singh took oath as the Governor of Uttarakhand on Wednesday. Gurmeet Singh has taken oath as the eighth governor of the state. Chief Justice of the High Court RS Chauhan administered the oath to him at the Raj Bhavan. Chief Secretary SS Sandhu conducted the program. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, other cabinet members and top officials, retired army officers were present in the ceremony.
Lt Gen Gurmeet Singh retired from the Army in 2016. He served in the army for about 40 years. During this he received four President’s Awards and two Chief of Army Staff Commendation Awards.
On reaching the Raj Bhavan, the newly appointed Governor of Uttarakhand, Lieutenant General Gurmeet Singh, was received by Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami. Minister Ganesh Joshi, Swami Yatheeswaranand, Chief Secretary SS Sandhu, Director General of Police Ashok Kumar, Secretary Governor Brijesh Kumar Sant, District Magistrate Dr.Rajesh Kumar, SSP Janmejay Khanduri welcomed him by presenting a bunch of flowers.
