Uttarakhand / Rishikesh : Elephant crushed to death the youth of Dehradun

Elephants attacked a camp at a distance from the Ganges in Shivpuri area and killed a youth of Vikas Nagar Dehradun. Footprints of two elephants have been found on the spot. Elephants have also destroyed the camp and goods. It is being told that the youth is a student of Nehru Mountaineering (NIM).
On Saturday night at Shivpuri police post of Munikireti, Vikas Negi resident of Bapu village Rishikesh and Nikhil resident of Nanda Devi Colony Gumaniwala Rishikesh reached Rishikesh and informed that some person has informed about his death from the phone of his friend Mayank Doval. The informer told that the dead body of a young man is lying on the banks of Shivpuri Ganga.
The mobile has been found at some distance, it is giving information about the number on which the maximum number of calls have taken place in this mobile. On receiving the information, Inspector Kamal Mohan Bhandari, in-charge of the police station, Sunil Pant in-charge of the police station reached the spot with the police team. Both the youths who gave information identified the body found on the spot as 28-year-old Mayank Doval resident of Amar Sweet Shop, Vikas Nagar, Dehradun.
Inspector-in-charge of the police station said that there were marks of dragging the youth out of the camp at the spot. Footprints of two elephants were also found on the spot. He told that Mayank Doval was sent by his family members for training in Nim Uttarkashi. He was staying here by making a single camp. According to the police, elephants roam in the area concerned, the youth may not have been aware of it. The police have kept the body in the mortuary of the government hospital. The relatives of the youth have reached here late at night.
