Uttarakhand : Target to double apple production in five years
Only small farmers will get subsidy : Subodh
Agriculture Minister Subodh Uniyal said that the Horticulture Department has been given a target to double apple production in five years. He talked about giving the benefit of subsidy to small farmers only. In the ongoing International Apple Festival at Rangers Ground, Minister Subodh Uniyal said that the subsidy given through various schemes in the state is not reaching the farmers of the lower level. In such a situation, the state government will not give the benefit of subsidy in schemes up to 10 lakh to the farmers who deposit income tax. He also gave certificates to the employees of the Horticulture Department. Gardeners were also honored. Uttarakhand Apple Growers Association President DP Uniyal said that the state government should take concrete steps to give recognition to the apples of Uttarakhand at the national and international level. The minimum price must be fixed so that there is no loss to the gardeners. Vipin Panyuli said that there are many villages of Gangotri assembly where parrots are causing a lot of damage to apples. In such a situation, some drones should be made available in the form of a hawk, so that the damage can be reduced. Chakrata resident Chatar Singh said that the length and width of community tanks should be reduced for water storage. Many gardeners came up with important suggestions. Sardar Rajpal Singh, Vice-Chairman of Uttarakhand State Farmers Commission said that whatever suggestions have come. He will be placed before CM Pushkar Singh Dhami.
