Uttarakhand / New Tehri : Last farewell to Rajmata Suraj Kunwar Shah

The last king to rule the princely state of Tehri, Late. Rajmata Suraj Kunwar Shah, wife of Manvendra Shah, was given a final farewell on Monday. People related to the royal family including Chief Minister CM Pushkar Singh Dhami, former CM, MLA reached Narendranagar Rajmahal and had the last darshan of Rajmata. His last rites were performed at Pooranand Ghat in Rishikesh.

On the death of Rajmata Suraj Kunwar Shah, the Narendranagar market was completely closed on Monday. The dead body of Rajmata was kept in the palace for the last glimpse, where people paid tribute to Rajmata after paying her last respects. Rajmata’s funeral procession came out from Narendranagar Rajmahal at around 11 in the morning, during which apart from the royal family members, people belonging to various social and political parties participated in the funeral procession. Rajmata’s last rites were performed at Pooranand Ghat in Rishikesh. Former CM Tirath Singh Rawat, Former CM Trivendra Singh Rawat, Agriculture Minister Subodh Uniyal, Minister Dr. Dhan Singh Rawat, Assembly Speaker Premchand Agarwal, Education Minister Arvind Pandey, MLA Dhan Singh Negi, MLA Shakti Lal Shah, Rishikesh Mayor Anita Mangai, Khajan Das, Jyoti Gairola, BJP spokesperson Vinod Suyal, former MLA Om Gopal Rawat, Municipal President Rajendra Vikram Singh Panwar, Thakur Bhawani Singh, JIP President Sona Sajwan, Thakur Kirti Singh, former in-charge Shyam Jaju , Soban Singh Negi, BJP District President Vinod Raturi, Khem Singh Chauhan, DM Eva Ashish Srivastava, SSP Tripti Bhatt, and a large number of people were present.
