Legacy of Ram Vilas Paswan Partition of LJP
Election Commission also changed the symbol and name
The legacy of Ram Vilas Paswan, a big face of Dalit politics, has been divided only after a year of his death. The Election Commission has approved the two factions of Lok Janshakti Party as separate parties.
According to sources, now the old name and election symbol have also been abolished. Now the faction headed by Chirag Paswan will be named Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas). Helicopter election symbol has been allotted to this party. Apart from this, the name of the party of his uncle and Ram Vilas Paswan’s real brother Pashupati Kumar Paras will be Rashtriya Lok Janshakti Party. This party has been given the sewing machine election symbol. In the letter issued by the Election Commission, it has been told that the name of Chirag Paswan’s party will now be Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas). Apart from this, his party has been given a helicopter as an election symbol. At the same time, his uncle’s party has been named Rashtriya Lok Janshakti Party. He has been allotted the sewing machine election symbol. With this, the battle of claims between the two factions about the party seems to be ending now. However, Ram Vilas has been added to Chirag Paswan’s party, which may help him seek votes on the basis of his father’s legacy in the election season.
Significantly, after the death of Ram Vilas Paswan, differences had emerged between his son Chirag and brother Pashupati Paras. Not only this, LJP had contested the 2020 Bihar assembly elections separately from the NDA and could not get a single seat. After this the differences in the party deepened. The faction of Pashupati Kumar Paras had removed Chirag from the post of national president and parliamentary party leader. Since then both the factions were making their own claims on the party. This fight had even reached the Election Commission, which has now given this decision. It is expected that the long-running dispute between the two parties regarding the claim on the party will be over now.
