The state of Uttarakhand has become the first state to administer the first dose of COVID-19 vaccine to the fully eligible beneficiaries. Giving this information in a press conference organized at Media Center Secretariat, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has congratulated all the people of the state for this. The Chief Minister expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for providing sufficient number of vaccine doses to the state as per the requirement. The Chief Minister said that this target has been accomplished even before the stipulated time. In this, the personnel of other departments including health, police departments, various social and religious organizations, media, and all the people of the state contributed significantly.

The Chief Minister appealed to the people who took the first dose to take the second dose on time. He said that as soon as the vaccination is allowed for those below the age of 18 years, the state government will try to get them vaccinated as soon as possible.

The Chief Minister said that under the guidance of the Government of India, Uttarakhand is successfully conducting the COVID-19 vaccination program from 16 January 2021. Necessary steps are being taken at the state, district and block level to boost the vaccination campaign.

Around 7729466 eligible beneficiaries above the age of 18 years were to be vaccinated for COVID-19 in the state. In which first the vaccination of health care workers was started, after which the frontline workers were then started immunization of patients above the age of 60 years and patients suffering from serious diseases in the age group of 45-59 years, after which all the beneficiaries above the age of 18 years were vaccinated. In which pregnant women and disabled citizens are also included.

Till October 16, 2021, a total of 99.6 percent health care workers, 99.2 percent frontline workers and 96.1 percent beneficiaries above the age of 18 years have been given the first dose of COVID-19 vaccination and other remaining beneficiaries include pregnant women (who have Awareness is being made by providing proper counseling. And they are being vaccinated only after their consent). Contraindicated beneficiaries (ie those who have a serious illness or who are taking blood thinners or who are allergic to the drug or have had any adverse effect from any vaccine in the past) and beneficiaries who do not wish to be vaccinated. In this way, the first dose of vaccine has been administered to almost all the interested beneficiaries in the state.

Regarding vaccination, a certificate is being obtained from each Gram Sabha and ward member of the first dose of COVID-19 vaccine to all the eligible beneficiaries in their area. In the sequence of which the first dose of COVID-19 vaccine has been administered to the fully eligible beneficiaries in the state of Uttarakhand. At present, the second dose, vaccination of pregnant women, disabled and mentally ill and other beneficiaries will continue in the state.
