Himachal Pradesh : BJP could not save bail in Jubbal-Kotkhai, the worst defeat ever
The ruling BJP government in Himachal Pradesh has suffered its worst defeat in the Jubbal-Kotkhai by-election. The BJP has not even been able to save its deposit in the by-election. The BJP candidate’s vote count was reduced to 2644, which is the record for the lowest number of votes ever taken by a national party candidate. Before the by-election, the Jubbal-Kotkhai seat was occupied by the BJP. In the by-election, the BJP was facing the displeasure of its workers since the ticket allotment. Despite this, the state government put a lot of emphasis on taking the BJP to respectable votes.
Suresh Bhardwaj, the only minister of district Shimla, was sent to Jubbal-Kotkhai as election in-charge. The entire command of the election campaign remained in the hands of Suresh Bhardwaj. Rallies ranging from Union Minister Anurag Thakur to Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur were also organized. BJP state in-charge Avinash Rai Khanna also held several meetings with the workers in Jubbal-Kotkhai. Despite this, the BJP was reduced to just 2644 votes. The BJP needed about 9414 votes to save the bail. But BJP candidate Neelam could not even get half of the required votes to save her bail. Due to which the BJP has suffered a lot in the by-elections.
Rohit won the election
Congress has waved its flag in Jubbal-Kotkhai seat. Congress candidate Rohit Thakur has won the election by a margin of 6293 votes. Here he was pitted against independent candidate Chetan Bragta. Although Chetan Bragta has won the hearts of everyone here as an independent candidate by securing 23662 votes. A total of 56,612 votes were cast in Jubbal-Kotkhai. Out of this, Congress candidate Rohit Thakur secured 29,955 votes. In this, independent candidate Chetan Bragta got 23662 votes. The surprising aspect has been that Neelam Saraik, the candidate of the ruling BJP government in the state, could not even save her deposit here.
