Indians who got Covaxin will now get entry in America, WHO approves Covaxin
The United States has updated its list of vaccines. The US has now also allowed people who have received the Covaccin vaccine to come to their country. Let us tell you that these amended rules will come into effect from November 8. The US is opening its borders to vaccinated foreign travelers.
US Centers for Disease Control (CDC) press officer Scott Pauley told news agency ANI, “CDC’s travel guidance applies to the list of vaccines approved or authorized by the FDA and WHO for emergency use. Over time those lists may be added.”
The CDC on Wednesday acknowledged the WHO’s grant of an emergency use list (EUL) to India’s indigenous vaccine, which has been developed by Bharat Biotech.
“WHO has granted Emergency Use List (EUL) to COVAXIN, developed by Bharat Biotech, adding to the growing portfolio of WHO validated vaccines for the prevention of COVID19,” the global health body said in a tweet.
Let us tell you that the World Health Organization has made a long wait for the vaccine to be approved. According to the WHO, Covaxin has a 78 percent efficacy rate against coronavirus and is “highly suitable” for low- and middle-income countries because it is easy to store.
The vaccine was co-developed by the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), which comes under the Union Health Ministry.
The new US travel rules will also accept fully vaccinated travelers with Pfizer-BioNtech, Johnson & Johnson, Moderna, Oxford-AstraZeneca, Covishield, Sinofarm and Sinovac.
