UP / Fatehgarh : Uproar in Fatehgarh Central Jail, after the death of the prisoner, the deputy jailer was taken hostage and set on fire
After the death of a prisoner in the Fatehgarh Jail in Uttar Pradesh’s Farrukhabad district on Sunday morning, other prisoners created a ruckus. Angry prisoners have accused the jail administration of being negligent. According to the information received, when the jail personnel tried to stop the angry prisoners, their anger increased further. After which they started stone pelting and vandalism inside the jail and took the jailer hostage, to stop the miscreants, aerial firing was done by the jail administration.
While many prisoners are said to be injured in this whole incident, some policemen have also been injured. Some of the injured are being treated at the district hospital. Some officials claim that the riot which took place on Sunday morning was pacified by 2 pm.
According to jail sources, the inmates started a ruckus after receiving the news of the death of a dengue-infected prisoner of the district jail while being admitted to the medical college in Saifai. On Sunday morning, the prisoners occupied the district jail inside and started pelting stones at the prison guards. After this a heavy police force was called to the spot but the prisoners continued to create ruckus inside the jail. According to the experts, the prisoners also set fire to the jail. The fire brigade reached the spot has been deployed to douse the fire.
Superintendent of Police Ashok Kumar Meena said that around 30 policemen were injured during stone pelting in the jail but now the jail situation is under control and everything is under control. The Superintendent of Police has also confirmed the attack on the Deputy Jailor. In this regard, District Magistrate Sanjay Kumar Singh refused to give any details and said that after the investigation of the incident, action will be taken against the culprits.
