Maharashtra : Former police commissioner Parambir Singh accused of retired assistant commissioner, Kasab’s phone was destroyed
Mumbai Police Commissioner Parambir Singh has now faced a big allegation. It is related to Pakistani terrorist Ajmal Kasab. Parambir Singh has been accused of destroying the mobile phone seized from Kasab, a living terrorist caught in the 2008 Mumbai terror attack. It is alleged that Shamsher Khan Pathan, retired Assistant Commissioner from Mumbai Police.
Retired Assistant Commissioner Shamsher Khan Pathan has claimed that the mobile phone seized from 26/11 terror attack convict Mohammad Ajmal Kasab was ‘destroyed’. In July, Pathan had given a written complaint to the Mumbai Police Commissioner seeking a probe into the entire matter and necessary action against Parambir Singh. The matter has once again gained momentum after the 26/11 terror attack anniversary and Parambir Singh returned to Mumbai after nearly six months.
Complaint went viral on social media
Retired Assistant Commissioner Pathan had given this complaint about four months ago. However, the complaint went viral on social media after Parambir Singh appeared before the Mumbai Crime Branch on Thursday in an extortion case. Parambir Singh was removed from the post of Mumbai Police Commissioner in March this year and was replaced by senior IPS officer Hemant Nagrale.
Said to get information from Inspector
In his complaint, Pathan has said that NR Mali, the then senior police inspector of DB Marg police station, had informed him that he had seized a mobile phone from Kasab. There was talk of handing over the phone to a constable named Kamble. Pathan alleged that the then DIG of Anti-Terrorism Squad Parambir Singh had taken the mobile phone from the constable.
He claimed in the complaint that the phone should have been handed over to the terror attack investigating officer Ramesh Mahale, but Singh “destroyed a vital piece of evidence”. Parambir Singh’s comment on this entire matter has not come to the fore. Kasab was caught alive 13 years ago during the terrorist attacks at several places in Mumbai. His death sentence was heard in the Supreme Court. He was hanged in November 2012 after his involvement in the case was proved.
