Uttarakhand / Dehradun : Danger of ‘Omicron Variant’, passengers-employees roaming without masks at Doon railway station

The new variant of the corona virus, Omicron, has become a cause of concern across the country. Thousands of passengers come and go from the railway station daily, so the risk of spreading infection is highest here. But looking at the Dehradun station, it does not seem like this. Here the severity of the infection seems to be flying in the air. The situation is that not only the passengers but the employees are also roaming without masks.

Railways has ordered to impose a fine of Rs 500 on those who roam the station without a mask. On Friday, when the team of Dainik Jagran went to Dehradun station to investigate this order, the condition of the railways was shocking. From passengers to railway employees were seen roaming without masks in the station premises, counters, platforms and railways. Even no railway employee was present at the station for surveillance. Shopkeepers have decorated their stalls to sell masks, but they themselves are refraining from applying masks. Even on the platform, the porters were talking among themselves without masks. At the same time, many employees who were inspecting the railways and sitting in the offices were seen without masks.

Chief Commercial Inspector SK Aggarwal said that continuous announcements are being made to apply masks at the railway station. Four passengers have been fined in the last two days. The first priority is to alert the passengers, if the passengers are not alert then fine will be imposed.
