Uttarakhand: CM Dhami admired this officer of Yogi government
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has become a fan of the working style of senior Uttar Pradesh bureaucrat Avnish Kumar Awasthi. Awasthi had reached Haridwar and Yamkeshwar a few days ago during the stay of UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath in Uttarakhand. The manner in which the senior bureaucrat discharged his duty during Yogi’s program at both these places forced CM Dhami to peep into the bureaucratic modus operandi of Uttarakhand.
During an important meeting on good governance on Wednesday, he could not stop himself from giving the example of a UP bureaucrat in front of senior bureaucrats. In the manner of giving advice to the bureaucrats of the state, he said that an ACS level officer of UP himself was visiting the guests and welcoming them. He will not have any instructions to do so, but he was doing it from his heart, so that the image of CM, government and governance would have a good impression. Guests who came should also feel respected.
The CM left the question whether the Tehsildar level officer would also do this in our place? The intention of the Chief Minister was that guidelines are not always required for all the work related to governance, administration and public concerns. The officers and employees have to work in a spontaneous manner for the facilities to be provided to the public, for the government system to work properly.

Chief Secretary has also commented before the Chief Minister
Giving the example of Avnish Kumar Awasthi, a 1987 batch IAS officer of UP, the Chief Minister also wanted to give a lesson to the bureaucracy of the state so that they should change their style of work and work with interest and service. It is a coincidence that before the Chief Minister, the Chief Secretary has also commented on the modus operandi of the state’s bureaucracy.
Two days back, Chief Secretary Dr. SS Sandhu had to ask all the Heads of Departments posted in the Secretariat to attend the review meetings with full preparation. This is the big question that why the high officials do not prepare the subjects before attending the meetings? Why do they have to depend on their subordinates to answer in meetings? According to experts, it will also have to be seen how much time the bureaucrats are getting to attend the meetings.
