The country gets two warships, the strength of the Navy will increase

Tuesday was a very special day for the Indian Navy. Defense Minister Rajnath Singh launched two warships Surat and Udayagiri at Mazagon Dock in Mumbai. Both these warships are built in India under Make in India. Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Limited (MDL) said that this is the first time that two indigenously built warships have been launched simultaneously. Know what is the specialty of these warships…

Both these warships, launched by Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, are named after the mountain and the city. Both the warships have been designed in-house by the Directorate of Naval Design (DND) and built at MDL, Mumbai. Surat is the fourth guided missile destroyer of the Project 15B class, while Udayagiri is the second stealth warship of the P17A class.

Launching both the warships, Rajnath Singh in his address described both the warships as an embodiment of the government’s unwavering commitment to enhance the country’s maritime capability, with a special focus on ‘Self-reliant India’. The launch of these indigenous warships is also very important at this time because at this time the whole world is facing the Corona epidemic and the Great War between Ukraine-Russia.

INS Surat is the next generation stealth guided missile destroyer of Project 15B of the Indian Navy. It is 7400 tons heavy. Its length will be 163 meters and the speed will be around 56 kilometers per hour. It can accommodate 50 officers and 250 sailors along with four interceptor boats. It can stay in the sea for about 45 days.

INS Udayagiri
INS Udayagiri is the third frigate frigate of Project 17A of the Indian Navy. This indigenously built warship is equipped with modern facilities and advanced weapons. It has advanced weapons, sensors and platform management system. INS Udayagiri is the third frigate warship of the Navy’s project. Under this project of the Navy, 7 frigates are to be built in the country itself.
