There is outrage in the Valley and Jammu after the murder of Hindu female teacher Rajni Bala in Kulgam. There were demonstrations in many places in Jammu regarding this. So at the same time, in Kashmir on Tuesday, Kashmiri Pandits had warned of mass exodus if no concrete decision was taken. After this warning of Kashmiri Pandits on Wednesday, a different scene was seen in Srinagar on Wednesday morning.

Security forces were seen outside Srinagar’s Indira Nagar and Shivpora areas where Kashmiri Pandit employees live on rent. Police mobile bunkers and deployment of soldiers were seen outside the roads leading to these areas. Apart from this, additional forces were also deployed in the interior areas. Along with the search of every vehicle and person going in and out, identification cards were also being checked. According to Kashmiri Pandits they were not allowed to go out. He also said that the government does not want to get its settlement done in the form of mass migration. Hence such security arrangements were made.

Sources said that no one was allowed to leave the transit camps in other districts of the Valley as well. Efforts were also made to take sides with the police regarding this but IGP Kashmir and SSP Srinagar no one answered the phone. But official sources in the police said that they have inputs for the past few days that terrorists in the city may target Kashmiri Pandits. So historically they have not been allowed to go out in the group. Their security was also beefed up so that no untoward incident takes place. He told that if someone was compulsive, he was allowed to go, only he was not allowed to leave in the group so that he does not become a soft target.
