Uttarakhand / Uttarkashi: One killed, three injured, one killed, three injured, many lives taken blind turn and sharp slopes in 100 meters deep gorge

One person was killed in a Max vehicle accident that took place on the Sylav-Kursil motorway in Barkot area. While three have been injured. Out of which two injured have been referred to Higher Center Dehradun. The driver of the vehicle is said to be absconding. On Thursday, at around 8 am, a Max vehicle met with an accident near Nagan village on Sylav-Kursil motorway.

The vehicle was coming from Sylav village towards Barkot with local passengers. Which went uncontrollably and fell into a gorge about 100 meters deep. There were five people in the vehicle including the driver. On the information of the accident, Barkot Police, SDRF and NDRF started rescue operation with the help of local people.

Jaiveer Lal (50) died on the spot in the accident. While Prahlad Singh, Sunil and Vinod Singh were injured. The injured were brought to CHC Barkot for treatment with the help of 108. After first aid at CHC Barkot, the injured Vinod Panwar and Sunil Chauhan were referred to Higher Center Dehradun. The driver of the vehicle is said to be absconding. Police is considering over speeding as the cause of the accident. CO Surendra Bhandari said that the driver of the vehicle is being searched.

Cause of accident due to carelessness on sharp slope

The place where the vehicle crashed had a steep slope as well as a band. The administration believes that speeding and inattention here became the cause of the accident. Due to the dispute at the said place, the department could not do the work of asphaltization and widening of the road. SDM Shalini Negi said that the working organization has started the work of road improvement. SDM Negi said that the Transport Department has also been asked to investigate.

Local residents expressed outrage

Local residents attributed the accident to non-compliance with road standards. Local residents said that there are blind turns and sharp slopes here. But no arrangements have been made for roadside security. The villagers expressed their displeasure in front of local MLA Sanjay Doval and SDM Shalini Negi, who reached the spot.
