Terror network in Kashmir hit hard, a dozen terrorist-overground workers arrested in 48 hours

Acting as a strategy to thwart the conspiracy of target killings in the valley and to make the annual pilgrimage of Shri Amarnath-2022 completely safe, the police have arrested a dozen terrorists and their helpers during the last 48 hours. These arrests have been made as part of the operation being conducted from district Kathua in Jammu division to district Kupwara along the LoC in North Kashmir. All the captured terrorists and their helper Ghulam were in constant contact with the terrorist commanders sitting in Kashmir.

A security review meeting chaired by Union Home Minister Amit Shah in Delhi last week has chalked out a strategy to prevent target killings in Jammu and Kashmir and make the annual pilgrimage to the holy cave of Shri Amarnath completely safe. Under this strategy, working with a well planned and pro-active approach against the terrorists, their supporters and helpers in the state, their network will be completely destroyed.

A senior police officer said that overground workers, helpers and supporters of terrorists operating in the state are being identified. The activities of all these are being continuously monitored at various levels. Many of them are also in constant contact with the terrorists operating in the state. He told that during the investigation of various incidents of target killings, it has been found that the terrorist leaders sitting in Pakistan are giving priority to use only new terrorists for these incidents.

He said that during the last 48 hours, the police have arrested more than a dozen terrorists and their helpers while raiding at different places across the state. The arrests have been made in Srinagar, Baramulla, Kulgam, Anantnag, Jammu, Ramban, Udhampur and Kathua. All those arrested were directly or indirectly involved in terrorist and anti-national activities. All these people were in constant contact with terrorists sitting in Pakistan, Sajjad Gul, Aashiq Nengru and Arjmand Gulzar, besides some other terrorists through internet media and other means. At the behest of the terrorists sitting in Pakistan, in many places in the state, inciting boys for terrorist activities in the name of religion, apart from recruiting them into terrorist groups, they were also carrying out various subversive activities.

Director General of Police Dilbagh Singh, while keeping silence on these arrests, said that there is a clear instruction to all the police officers and other security agencies that any terrorist commander sitting in Pakistan or any other country or having contact with any other anti-national element will be under the relevant law. Strict action should be taken under The policy of zero tolerance is being adopted against anti-national activities and anti-national elements. This is necessary to maintain an atmosphere of security and trust in the state.
