5 sub-variants of Omicron, cases double in 10 days
The pace of Corona seems to be increasing again in the capital. On Thursday, the infection rate was recorded above 3%, while 622 new patients were found. However, experts say that such fluctuations will happen now, but it is not a panic issue. We have to understand one thing that Kovid is not gone yet, so follow the Kovid behavior and those who have not taken the vaccine should take the vaccine. For the last few days, the Kovid figures are increasing by about 100 cases every day. On June 1, 368 out of 21,147 tests were found in Delhi, the positivity rate was 1.7%. On Thursday, the tests were even less (19,619), but 622 samples were found positive. Meaning that the positivity rate of Delhi has now been 3.2%.
According to the health bulletin released on Thursday, 537 patients have recovered. At the same time, the number of admitted patients has increased to 80 and the total number of active patients has increased to 1774. On Thursday, two patients died due to corona virus in Delhi.
Noida: 31 people including 4 students got corona
31 new cases of corona have been reported in Noida. These include 4 students. Earlier, 34 patients were found on 1 June and 43 patients on 9 June. According to the report of the Health Department, 20 patients have been cured on Thursday. The number of active patients has increased to 161. 3 patients are admitted in hospitals. District Surveillance Officer Dr. Manoj Kushwaha said that along with Kovid Hospital, private hospitals have also become Kovid hospitals. That’s why patients are being admitted everywhere. Hospitals and beds will be increased if needed. Till now 99 percent of the patients are recovering in home isolation.
What is the connection of Kovid virus with heat?
Dr Jugal Kishore, Head of Medicine at Safdarjung Hospital, said that ‘this COVID virus is resisting to heat as all the waves happened in summer, especially in India.’ He said, ‘Omicron and its variants cause mild infection and surges have been seen in different areas. Overcrowding, poor hygiene and declining immunity are the main reasons behind this. Dr Kishor said that the hospitalized patients are very few and death is rare. He said, “It is best to maintain social distancing, observe hand hygiene and maintain nutrition as it also protects against infections like monkeypox.”
On March 31, the Delhi Disaster
Management Authority (DDMA) had waived the penalty for not wearing a mask in public. When the cases increased, on April 20, the penalty on no-mask came again. However, this time the fine was reduced from Rs 2,000 to Rs 500.
It has been five months since the last wave, so the immunity of the people would have gone down. On top of that, people’s attitude towards Kovid has been careless. The virus is still all around us. Ideally, the cases should not have a large bulge. Omicron has five sub-lineages with slight differences so the new mutants shouldn’t cause a big jump.
Dr. Chandrakant Laharia, Public Health Expert
Director of Loknayak Hospital, Dr Suresh Kumar said that they have 10 patients admitted out of which one is on ventilation. The patient with ventilator is 65 years old and has diabetes and heart related problems. Dr Kumar said that samples of all 10 patients have been sent for genome sequencing. The report will come in 4-5 days.
Omicron no new sub-lineage in Delhi
Apart from Loknayak in Delhi, the Institute of Liver and Biliary Sciences (ILBS) has labs for genome sequencing of Covid samples. In April, the government ordered each sample to be sent for genome sequencing. Dr Kumar said that till now the same variant of Omicron has been found in all the samples. So far, no case has been reported for the new sub-lineage variants of Omicron. Dr Neeraj Nischal, Professor of Medicine at AIIMS, said, “Unless there are dangerous mutations like Delta, there is not that much risk of infection even when cases increase. However, we should not be careless. Boosters dose should be taken.
