Uttar Pradesh : CM Yogi Gambhir on stone pelting and arson in Prayagraj, instructions for strict action against stone pelters

On June 3, the flames of violence spread in Kanpur reached Prayagraj on the second day of Friday. After the Friday prayers in many districts of UP including Prayagraj, the miscreants first created a ruckus, after which they started pelting stones. Stone pelters also targeted several vehicles and set them on fire. The rioters also set a PAC vehicle on fire. Seeing the situation in Prayagraj becoming uncontrollable, CM Yogi came into action.

CM Yogi has instructed the officers to deal with stone pelters. CM Yogi has instructed the police and administrative officers to take strict action against the goons in view of the incidents of stone pelting in the cities of the state. Instructing the officers, CM Yogi said that there should be no mess with the security. He said that strict action will be taken against those who disturb the peace. Along with this, the officers were also instructed to do monitoring at all the places. CM Yogi said that officers like Additional Chief Secretary Home Avnish Awasthi, Acting DGP, ADG Law and Order are keeping an eye on the situation from the police headquarters.

Additional Chief Secretary Home Avnish Awasthi said that strict action will be taken against anyone who tries to disturb the peace and order situation unnecessarily. I appeal to the people of Uttar Pradesh to maintain harmony. He said, some people have tried to create chaos in Prayagraj. They were almost completely dispersed by the police administration using mild force with great care. We want to appeal to the youth not to come out on the streets unnecessarily. He said, under sectoral plans, police, administration, magistrates and COs deployed adequate police force for patrolling. Immediately after the prayer, people gathered at Saharanpur, Moradabad, Firozabad and other places.

Let us inform that the ruckus in Prayagraj after Friday prayers has spoiled the atmosphere of the city. Police force has been deployed in the city after incidents of stone pelting and arson. The police also resorted to lathi-charge to deal with the stone pelters. Even after this the stone pelters continued to pelt stones. Police and Rapid Action Force lost their sweat in controlling the stone pelters. This incident of stone pelting has become most violent in Atala area of Prayagraj. However, the police force is constantly trying to control the situation. Police have detained several protesters. Heavy police force has also been deployed at the protest sites.
