Fact-checker Mohammad Zubair gets bail in Delhi case, will still remain in jail
Alt News co-founder and fact-checker Mohammad Zubair has been granted bail in the Delhi case. Delhi’s Patiala House Court has granted bail on a surety of 50,000. This case is a case of hurting religious sentiments by tweeting in the year 2018. However, Mohammad Zubair will still have to remain in jail, as he is still in judicial custody till 27th in the Hathras case.
During this, the court said, ‘Political parties in Indian democracy should be ready for criticism. Criticism is very important for a good democracy. It is not right to impose sections 153A and 295A just by criticizing any political party.
Zubair has requested the Supreme Court to quash the six cases registered against him by the Uttar Pradesh Police. At the same time, it has also been said that the Special Investigation Team constituted to investigate the cases should be withdrawn.

A magisterial court had on July 2 rejected his bail plea in the case and sent him to 14-day judicial custody (JC). Referring to the nature and gravity of the offenses against the accused, the magistrate court had said that the matter is still in the initial stage of investigation.
