Sharat-Akula pair got 18th gold medal, boxer Sagar had to be satisfied with silver

The tenth day of the Commonwealth Games 2022 in Birmingham continues. Today i.e. till Sunday 7th August, India has won 55 medals in 9 days of games, which includes 18 gold, 15 silver and 22 bronze medals. India is at the fifth position in the medal tally. Indian women’s hockey team won the bronze medal by defeating New Zealand. Neetu, Amit Panghal and Nikhat Zareen have won gold medals for India in boxing. India’s Aldos Paul and Abdullah Abubakar won gold and silver medals respectively in the men’s triple jump event of the Commonwealth Games. On the other hand, Sandeep Kumar won the bronze medal in the 10,000 thousand meter race walk. Annu Rani also got a bronze medal in javelin throw. The pair of Achanta Sharath Kamal and G Sathiyan won the silver medal in the table tennis men’s doubles event of the Commonwealth Games. Sharath Kamal defying age won gold medal in mixed doubles of Commonwealth Games with Sreeja Akula. Apart from these games, some more medals are going to come in India’s bag. India’s women’s cricket team missed out on winning the gold medal. The Indian team had to face defeat against Australia in the gold medal match. Boxer Sagar also had to settle for silver medal after losing in the final.
This is the third CWG medal for the Indian women’s hockey team. Before this, India had won only two medals in the Commonwealth Games, in which one was a gold medal and a silver medal. Now a bronze medal has also been added to this list. India last won a silver medal in the 2006 CWG. In such a situation, after 16 years, the team has again got a medal in the Commonwealth Games.
