Jagdeep Dhankhar became the 14th Vice President, President Draupadi Murmu administered the oath

Jagdeep Dhankhar has taken oath as the Vice President today (Thursday) at 12.30 pm. The swearing-in ceremony was held at Rashtrapati Bhavan in the afternoon. President Draupadi Murmu administered the oath of office to Jagdeep Dhankhar at 8.30 am.  Reached Rajghat and paid tribute to Mahatma Gandhi. In this regard, Dhankhar tweeted and informed.

Let us tell you that in the recently held Vice Presidential election, NDA’s candidate Jagdeep Dhankhar has won a landslide victory. He secured 528 votes and won. While the opposition candidate Margaret Alva got 182 votes. A total of 725 votes were cast in the Vice Presidential election.  Of these, 710 votes were found valid. While 15 votes were found invalid.

Dhankhar became the 14th Vice President

Jagdeep Dhankhar has become the 14th Vice President of the country.  Earlier on Monday, 13th Vice President Venkaiah Naidu was given farewell in Parliament.  Naidu’s term ended on August 10.  However, he had already stepped down due to holidays.

Who is Jagdeep Dhankhar?

Jagdeep Dhankhar hails from Jhunjhunu district of Rajasthan.  He was the Governor of West Bengal before the Vice Presidential election.  He resigned from the post of Governor after being made the NDA candidate.  Dhankhar comes from a farmer family.  His father Gokul Chandra Dhankhar used to do farming.  Dhankhar is a lawyer by profession.

Jagdeep Dhankhar started advocacy after taking law degree and in 1990 he became Senior Advocate in Rajasthan High Court.  Dhankhar has practiced law from the Supreme Court to many High Courts of the country.  By the year 1988, he had become one of the eminent lawyers of the country.

Political career of 30 years Dhankhar’s political career is of about 30 years.  In the year 1989, he came into active politics and in the same year was elected MP for the 9th Lok Sabha by winning the election from Jhunjhunu on Janata Dal ticket for the first time.  In 1990, he has also served as the Minister of Parliamentary Affairs in the government of Chandrashekhar.  After this he also tried his hand in the politics of Rajasthan.  He was also an MLA from 1993 to 1998.
