Serious Allegations Leveled Against Police Before Suicide: Video Surfaces

The deceased has been identified as 20-year-old Pankaj Kumar. The case took a dramatic turn when a video, recorded by the young man shortly before his death, surfaced and subsequently went viral on social media. In the video, he is seen leveling serious allegations against the police personnel of the Satpuli Police Station. It is alleged that the police had physically assaulted him in connection with a specific case.

The Young Man Had a Deep Love for His Bike

According to available information, the young man was an avid biker and cherished his motorcycle deeply. Such was his passion for biking that he had even adopted the username “(BORN_2_RIDE)” on his social media profile. His family members allege that it was this very motorcycle—the object of his affection—that the police had seized, a move that caused him significant mental distress.

The Police’s Version of Events

The incident originally unfolded on Friday, May 1st, when Pankaj’s motorcycle collided with that of a local doctor in Satpuli. The collision left the doctor injured, while Pankaj also sustained injuries. The matter was subsequently reported to the police station. According to the police, Pankaj was under the influence of intoxicants at the time of the accident. Consequently, in accordance with established regulations, the police seized his vehicle and issued a challan (fine) under the Motor Vehicles Act. A subsequent medical examination confirmed that Pankaj was indeed in an intoxicated state.

Mother Discovers Son’s Body

According to the family, Pankaj left home on Saturday without informing anyone of his whereabouts. When a search failed to locate him, his mother, Pushpa, went up to the terrace of their house. From there, she spotted a young man’s body hanging from a bridge. Suspecting the worst, she immediately alerted the police.

SSP’s Statement on the Matter

“The young man leveled allegations against the local police shortly before his death. Therefore, considering the gravity of the matter, I have entrusted the investigation to the Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP), Kotdwar, to ensure an impartial inquiry into these allegations. A post-mortem examination is also being conducted by a panel of doctors, and the entire procedure is being videographed and photographed. If any individual is found guilty in connection with this case, strict disciplinary action will be taken against them.”
