Uttarakhand / Dehradun : Drugs smuggled under the guise of food delivery, plans made in jail, come out and join Swiggy-Zomato

Drug smuggling has been exposed under the guise of food delivery in Dehradun city. Police engaged in search of mobile theft accused arrested three drug smugglers. One of them had stolen a mobile while two used to smuggle drugs by staying in Zomato and Swiggy. He started food delivery only for smuggling.

SSP Dalip Singh Kunwar informed about the action of Clementtown Police on Tuesday. He told that Neha Singhal resident of Turner Road had complained. His mobile phone worth Rs 1.5 lakh was stolen from a gym. When the police examined the CCTV footage, it was found that a person wearing a burqa was stealing the mobile. On the basis of the footage, the police went ahead and at one place a person was seen going on a bike without a helmet.

When the bike number was checked, it was in the name of Saurabh Kumar resident of Teacher Colony, Deoband, Saharanpur. It was learned that Saurabh is going to come to Dehradun on Tuesday in his car. On information, the car was stopped at Asharodi checkpost. In this, youths named Saurabh, Neeraj Kumar Rana and Vishal Kumar were sitting. During the search, stolen mobile, 70 grams of smack and three and a half lakh rupees in cash were recovered from them.

During interrogation, Neeraj told that Vishal is his elder brother and Saurabh is a resident of a nearby locality. Neeraj is a trainer in a gym located in Chandrabani. He has been living with Vishal in Dehradun for three years. He has already been to jail on theft charges. In jail, he met smack smugglers. There he planned to smuggle in order to earn quick money.

For this, he thought of doing food delivery and started working in Zomato and Swiggy. Vishal and Saurabh started food delivery and he started smacking them from Saharanpur. He had also planned to steal the mobile from the gym for money. The SSP said that the accused have been produced in the court and sent to jail.

Buy car, bike and plot
The accused have also purchased an expensive sports bike, three Splendor motorcycles and a plot of Rs 25 lakh in Pitthuwala with the money received from smack smuggling. The four motorcycles have also been recovered at the instance of the accused. Information about their assets is also being collected. The process of confiscating them will also be started on the instructions of the administration.

Restaurants and Dhabas are closed then why do delivery boys hang around?
The kitchens of hotels in the city are closed till 10:30 in the night. Most of the restaurants also close by 11 pm. Apart from this, some selected hotels and dhabas are open till one o’clock in the night. However, delivery boys are seen roaming around the city even till three o’clock in the night.
