The order to make Chief Justice UU Lalit’s son Shriyash the lawyer of the UP government in the Supreme Court has been postponed

The UP government has postponed the implementation of the mandates related to the binding of four advocates as State Law Officers for pleading and arguing cases on behalf of the state in the Supreme Court till further orders. It also includes Supreme Court advocate Shriyash U Lalit.

All the mandates were issued on September 21 last. An order was issued to suspend the implementation of the mandates on Monday. Yeshish U Lalit was confined in the room of Senior Panel Advocate. Similarly, a mandate was issued to bind Yasharth Kant as a junior panel advocate. Along with this, Preeti Goyal was bound as Special Panel Advocate and Namit Saxena as Advocate on Record.

The Yogi government had appointed Shriyash U Lalit, the son of Chief Justice of India UU Lalit, to the Supreme Court in a panel of senior advocates to represent the state government. In this regard, a notification was issued by the UP administration. Recently, after the retirement of NV Raman, Justice UU Lalit took over as the 49th Chief Justice of the Supreme Court. Four generations of Justice UU Lalit, born in Solapur, Maharashtra, are associated with advocacy.

Justice UU Lalit’s grandfather Ranganath Lalit used to practice in Solapur before independence. Justice UU Lalit’s father Umesh Ranganath Lalit has also been a lawyer who later became a judge of the High Court. Justice UU Lalit was appointed as a Supreme Court Justice directly from the bar. At the same time, his son Shriyash U Lalit is also a lawyer who was appointed by the UP government in the panel of senior advocates to represent the state government.

CJI UU Lalit to retire on November 8

Justice Uday Umesh Lalit’s tenure as CJI will be less than 100 days. Justice UU Lalit will retire on November 8 after completing his 74-day tenure as CJI. It is noteworthy that Supreme Court Justices retire at 65 years and High Court Justices retire at 62 years.
