Uttarakhand : Now suggestions can be given for Uniform Civil Code till October 22, the committee extended the date

Opinions and their suggestions were sought from the people of the state regarding the implementation of Uniform Civil Code in Uttarakhand. In such Uttarakhand, the committee constituted to prepare the draft of the Uniform Civil Code had kept the last date for receiving suggestions from the public on 7 October, which has now been extended to 22 October.

Let us inform that suggestions were sought from the public regarding the implementation of Uniform Civil Code in Uttarakhand. For which this portal named https://ucc.uk.gov.in/ was started. Just before the assembly elections in Uttarakhand, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami had promised to implement Uniform Civil Code in the state. The proposal to constitute a committee for this was approved in the first meeting of the state cabinet in March itself. It was formed on 27 March. The committee has held five meetings so far.

Former Justice Ranjana Desai, chairperson of the committee constituted to implement Uniform Civil Code in Uttarakhand, said that we want people to come to the portal and give their views, suggestions, objections and complaints. This will help us in drafting a Uniform Civil Code.

He said that the objective of Uniform Civil Code is to seek public opinion and suggestions on personal issues like marriage, divorce, right to property, so that the committee can do its job well. It is not easy to set a time limit. That is why the suggestions sought from the public are important.
