Hemkund Sahib Yatra has been stopped due to heavy snowfall. The journey will be started only after the season opens. SI Narendra Kothiyal posted in Ghangaria said that due to heavy snowfall in Hemkund Sahib, the yatra has been stopped for security. About two hundred and fifty pilgrims have been stopped in Ghangaria. The first snowfall of this season occurred on the hills of Gangotri and Yamunotri Dham on Friday night. At the same time, intermittent rain continues in both the dhams. On the other hand, due to inclement weather, snowfall occurred in Kedarnath and Hemkund Sahib and also in the higher peaks of Badrinath. About two and a half inches of snow has frozen in Hemkund.
Devotees of Kuthnaur and Gangtadi of Yamuna Ghati, who reached Gangotri Dham on Saturday, danced in the temple premises with Dev Dolis. Tirthpurohit of Gangotri Dham Rajesh Semwal told that it has been raining in Gangotri Dham since Friday night, due to which there has been snowfall on the hills adjoining the Dham. On the other hand, the doors of Hemkund Sahib will be closed for winter on October 10, for which the Hemkund Sahib Management Trust has started preparations. Snowfall started in the Dham on Saturday morning, due to which Hemkund as well as the Sapta Shringa mountains are completely covered with snow. Gurdwara manager Sewa Singh said that a large number of Sikh devotees have reached Ghangaria to offer prayers during the closure of the doors. Snow has frozen up to two and a half inches in Hemkund Sahib. At the same time, Kedarnath Dham also received snowfall in the afternoon as the weather worsened, due to which it is getting cold in the Dham.
