50 crore sought from Uttarakhand High Court officer in lieu of life, threatening letter received from speed post

A demand of Rs 50 crore has been made in lieu of life from a high-ranking officer of the High Court. In the letter, using abusive language, it has been asked to pay the amount within 48 hours. The Mallital Kotwali police has registered an FIR but no police officer is ready to tell anything in this matter. According to the information, on Friday, a letter was received by the Registrar General’s office located in the High Court through speed post. In the letter, a demand of Rs 50 crore has been made within 48 hours for the life of a senior High Court officer using abusive language. According to the FIR, the speed post envelope also bears the name and address of the person sending the letter.
After receiving the letter, on behalf of the Assistant Registrar (Protocol) of the High Court, a complaint was lodged in the Mallital Kotwali, demanding action by registering a report in the matter. On the basis of Tahrir, the police have started investigation by registering a case against Junar resident Bilaspur Chhattisgarh under sections 386 and 504 of the IPC, the name recorded in the envelope of the letter. In this regard, Senior Superintendent of Police Pankaj Bhatt says that no such case is in his notice.
