Every district and block in Uttarakhand will be connected to bus service, where roadways bus has not reached till now, bus service will be started soon – Transport Minister

Roadways buses will be operated up to every district and block headquarters of the state. Where roadways bus has not reached till now, bus service will be started from major cities of the state soon. Transport Minister Chandan Ramdas made this announcement on the occasion of the foundation stone laying program of the new workshop of the Transport Corporation and the administrative building of the Divisional Office of Dehradun. He said that the roadways is taking 610 new buses, which include BS-VI diesel, CNG and electric buses.

Construction of new workshop of Doon Mandal

A new workshop of Doon Division is to be constructed in Transportnagar on behalf of Uttarakhand Transport Corporation. Till now it is running on Haridwar road, but with Rs 25.77 crore the roadways is now a new modern workshop. Divisional office building will also be there in the new workshop. The office of Divisional Manager, Station Superintendent and Assistant General Manager will also shift here. At present all the offices are operating on Gandhi Road.

Foundation stone of new workshop and divisional office

Transport Minister Chandan Ramdas and Dharampur MLA Vinod Chamoli laid the foundation stone of the new workshop and divisional office on Thursday afternoon. Speaking on the occasion, the Transport Minister said that till now the roadways were in loss of Rs.300 crores, but this is the first time when the roadways has made a profit of Rs.20 crores. Roadways is now bearing its own expenses and there is no pending payment on it. Roadways itself is bearing the construction expenses of the workshop and its buildings. This time 80-90 buses of roadways were deployed in Chardham Yatra and in one and a half months an income of five crore rupees was made. In future, a bigger bus fleet will be deployed in Yatra.

For passenger convenience, the Transport Minister announced the construction of new ISBTs in Haridwar and Kathgodam. Said that a central workshop is being built in Tanakpur. Large depots will be set up at Ramnagar, Kashipur, Rudrapur and Roorkee. Work is going on to build six new depots including Bhowali, Srinagar, Almora, Herbertpur. Roadways buses should run on time and reach on time, this arrangement is being made. Online ticket booking is being done, so the driver-operator should not run empty buses.

Every district and block headquarter will be connected by bus service

If the passengers wait, the buses will not go into loss. The passengers who are sitting in the Duggar vehicle will sit in the roadways. Roadways 610 is taking new BS-VI, CNG and electric buses. Every district and block headquarter of the state will be connected by roadways bus service. Roadways will emerge as a financial management institution in the state in future. Assessment and identification of roadways properties have been done. During this, Managing Director of Roadways Rohit Meena, General Manager Deepak Jain and Doon Divisional Manager Sanjay Gupta were present.

Transport Corporation will operate ISBT

There will be a meeting with Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami soon regarding the operation of Dehradun ISBT. The Transport Minister said that the Ramky company operating the ISBT has been warned that if the rectification is not done, the agreement will be canceled and the Transport Corporation itself will operate it.

Rest houses and luggage lockers will be built in the depot

The Transport Minister said that at 2 o’clock in the night, a passenger who reaches here by bus from Delhi or other city, waits for small vehicles to reach the destination. If rest houses are built in the depots and rooms are made to keep the luggage of the passengers, then the passengers will rest there at cheaper rates and will leave for the destination in the morning by roadways buses. Work on the project will be started soon.

Roadways headquarters to be built in Kulhan

Roadways will no longer have to spend Rs 20 crore annually on rent at its headquarters. The headquarters of Uttarakhand Roadways is running in a rented building since its formation in October-2003. Earlier it was in rented building in Vasant Vihar and now it is functioning at UCF Sadan on Haridwar Bypass.

Now the roadways headquarter is being built on the second floor of the Transport Commissioner’s office in Kulhan located on Sahasradhara Road. On Friday morning, Transport Minister Chandan Ramdas will lay the foundation stone of the new building of the Roadways Headquarters. The responsibility of construction has been given to Uttarakhand Drinking Water Corporation and the roadways itself will bear the cost of construction of Rs 4.80 crore.

CNG stations will be built

On the decision to remove diesel Vikram and auto in the RTA meeting, the Transport Minister said that before removing the vehicle, charging stations for CNG and electric vehicles should be built. He said that charging stations for CNG and electric vehicles are going to be built in Dehradun. There will also be work to build charging stations for electric vehicles from solar energy on mountain roads.
