Uttarakhand : With four new townships in Dehradun, the government will set up 12 new cities in Garhwal division and 10 in Kumaon

After the approval of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, the work of setting up 22 new cities in Uttarakhand has also gained momentum. 12 new cities will be set up in Garhwal division and 10 in Kumaon. While preparing the master plan of these places on the lines of New Mohali of Punjab, basic facilities like electricity, water, roads, schools, hospitals should be provided here. So that people themselves are ready to settle here. In the board meeting of Uttarakhand Housing and Urban Development Authority (UDA), sites were selected for setting up 22 new cities. Along with this, the recruitment rules for clerical staff in the District Development Authorities were approved. In the 16th board meeting of UDAY held under the chairmanship of Urban Development and Housing Minister Premchand Agarwal, emphasis was laid on the development of new cities in view of the low scope of expansion in existing cities.
For this, after considering the report of the site selection committee constituted earlier at the level of UDAY, it was approved. It was decided that while preparing the master plan of these places on the lines of New Mohali of Punjab, basic facilities like electricity, water, roads, schools, hospitals should be provided here. So that people themselves are ready to settle here. This will reduce the additional pressure of existing cities. Now this project will be taken forward at the government level.
Six committees were formed on the instructions of CM
On the instructions of the CM, Uda had earlier constituted six committees, which included teams from housing, town planning, district development authority and district administration, to select the locations for the new cities. The team has finalized the report after on-site inspection last month.
After the meeting, Minister Premchand Agrawal said that initially 22 new places have been identified to be developed as cities. Out of which 12 are proposed in Garhwal division and 10 in Kumaon division.
Four new townships in Dehradun
